Critical Role Campaign 4 Introduces the Fighters Party

Ever since the premiere of the fourth campaign, new Dungeon Master Brennan Mulligan has kept fans guessing with deep backstory, a wide array of characters, and a gripping narrative featuring angels, demons, and dark forces expanding in strength within the city.

Warning: Revealing details for the latest installment of this adventure are included.

The Warrior Group Introduced

The latest chapter ended with a huge suspense moment and revealed the first table of characters who will separate from the central cast to embark on their separate journey, separate from the remaining groups.

The Soldiers table features the determined fighter (played by the voice actor), Thimble (Laura Bailey), the strong-willed figure (Whitney Moore), the cleric (the player), and Kattigan (Robbie).

The Reason for Division

With a large ensemble, it was clear from the start that having everyone at the same party would be unworkable.

That’s why, the opening chapters of the new season serve as an Introduction, intertwining the characters’ stories before splitting into three distinct groups: Soldiers, Planners, and Seekers.

The Nature of the Warrior Group

According to Brennan Lee Mulligan, the combat-focused party is for participants who are drawn to a traditionally charged battle-oriented narrative style where non-violent answers are few and far between.

At first glance, figures such as the reluctant priest Wicander Halovar might appear unsuited, but the events of the latest installment demonstrate why these particular heroes are ideally matched for the Soldiers table.

Motivations for Departure

To begin with, the party has a clear idea where to go next after a violent initial meeting with the antagonists.

A former ally of Thjazi Fang—whose demise initiated the narrative’s action—manipulated the enemy for his personal gain, invading Thjazi’s hideout, attacking Thimble, and taking all the magical artifacts to dispose of.

The antagonist then paid off his debts and escaped to a Halovar stronghouse in the remote area, beyond the urban center, with Cyd Pridesire close behind.

Character Drivers

Moreover, each character has a specific drive to depart the metropolitan area:

  • Thimble, as the close ally and trusted friend, seeks retribution.
  • Kattigan is familiar with the northern area and cautions that it is a dangerous place.
  • The warrior and The cleric, having resisted his family’s wishes to kill Teor and instead rescued him, have no safe haven.
  • But, their status as key figures in the powerful family could help the team reach areas they normally couldn’t.
  • Moreover, The fighter vowed a eternal obligation to The savior for his salvation and will now accompany him anywhere.

Wanted and Hunted

In addition, all of them are wanted by the rulers that rule Dol-Makjar for a variety of reasons, making lingering locally too risky:

  • Thimble and The hero are notorious outlaws.
  • The strong figure and Wicander defied the influential house and the horde of evil beings they are allied with.
  • The target is targeted for elimination by the clan.

This leaves them little choice but to travel to the remote area in pursuit of Casimir.

What’s Next?

From the latest episode’s follow-up content, we learn that the combat party will be absent next week, leaving the other eight cast members to assemble the Seekers and Planners tables.

Audiences can anticipate discovering which players will be in which group in the story’s final introductory chapter, released on next week.
