This Dramatic Portrait
In the struggle between God and Mammon, the winner is obvious for Mammon in this director's wonderfully garish biopic of the disgraced TV preacher and her felon spouse. Garfield plays the greedy Jim, who declares initially, “God does not want us to be poor,”. Both individuals commence capitalizing on the people's spiritual convictions. It's an extravaganza of tacky decor, bad makeup and bad faith, though the lead actress manages to show the real-life figure in a likable light. Tuesday 14 October, early morning, Film4
